Gemma joined Stour Chambers in 2001, having spent several years as an employed barrister, initially with the family department of Mills & Reeve Solicitors, Cambridge and then in the legal department for social services of two different local authorities.

She is a family law practitioner, undertaking in the main, cases concerning children. She has a particular specialism and interest in care proceedings and other applications concerning the adoption of children.

Gemma has appeared in Re H (Child) [2003] EWCA Civ 369 and LM (By her Guardian) v Medway Council, RM and YM [2007]1FLR 1698 and has delivered seminars in respect of child care law both locally and in London.

Gemma is a member of the Family Law Bar Association.
