Pupillage at Stour Chambers
Chambers recognises that the Bar is changing. In particular the family and criminal Bar. The decision as to whether we are going to offer pupillage in any one year is dependent on whether we see the need for a pupil and a junior tenant in the foreseeable future.
Accordingly we will not necessarily offer a pupillage every year. If we do offer a pupillage it will be one 12-month pupillage and is likely to be partially funded. Currently we do have a partial waiver with the Bar Council and so the funding arrangements will not be confirmed until the pupillage is formally advertised.
Whatever the position, Chambers is not a member of OLPAS, though we do follow their rules and general timetable.
The Pupillage Timetable
Each year the following Timetable shall apply:
| 1st August | Chambers will decide whether to offer pupillage for the following October. |
| 31st August | Pupillage will be advertised at the BVC institutions, pupillages.com website, Inns of Court and on the News Page of this Website. |
| 1st September | Chambers will start to accept applications for pupillage |
| 15th December | Application Deadline. |
| January/February | Interviews take place. |
| 15th March | Offer of pupillage made |
| 1st October | Pupillage Starts |
PLEASE NOTE THAT ALL APPLICATIONS FOR PUPILLAGE MUST BE ON AN APPLICATION FORM. ALL CVs WILL BE IGNORED.

WE WILL ONLY ACCEPT APPLICATIONS BETWEEN 1st SEPTEMBER - 15th DECEMBER IN ANY ONE YEAR FOR THE FOLLOWING YEAR ONLY.
If you have any queries concerning pupillage, please contact the Pupillage and Tenancy Co-ordinator, Martha Monday or Fiona Beach on 01227 764899 or e-mail
