Thomas joined Chambers after completing pupillage and taking tenancy at a respected common law set in the Temple, London. Whilst in London, Thomas developed a busy civil practice through which he enjoyed instructions on Small Claims, Fast-Track and Multi-Track trials, as well as MOJ Stage 3 Oral Hearings, Infant Settlement Hearings, Injunctions, Applications for Relief, and the range of conferences and pre-trial hearings. Thomas regularly conducts drafting and advisory work, and has experience in drafting pleadings and defences, directions, advices on quantum in both personal injury and disrepair claims, and grounds of judicial review.

 

Thomas spent the year before pupillage on placement as a Harold G. Fox Scholar in Toronto. He clerked for Macpherson J.A. at the Court of Appeal for Ontario and worked at a leading litigation boutique, where he assisted on a range of high-profile Public, Constitutional and Criminal matters before the Supreme Court of Canada, the British Columbia Supreme Court, the Court of Appeal for Ontario and the Ontario Superior Court of Justice.

Thomas enjoys reading, walking and photography. Before coming to the Bar, Thomas obtained a Master of Arts and Doctorate in Philosophy from the University of Bristol, where he taught undergraduates for several years and established a Philosophy course for recovering drug addicts with little formal education.

This set comes recommended for its members' expertise in children and matrimonial finance matters. The children cases range across both public and private law work, and include those concerning non-accidental injury, sexual abuse and fabricated illness. On the financial side, the set's barristers demonstrate the ability to act in substantial financial remedies cases as well as Schedule 1 and TOLATA matters.

Specialising in matrimonial finance and children matters. Members appear in the regional courts as well as the High Court and the Court of Appeal. They often act in financial remedy proceedings relating to farms, companies, properties and other assets. In addition they are adept at dealing with serious child care allegations including physical abuse and death.
