James joined Stour after completing a mixed civil and family pupillage in a set of chambers in Essex, James was instructed in his own right in private law children, financial remedy and Family Law Act matters. He has also conducted small claims and fast track trials in personal injury proceedings.

Prior to undertaking pupillage James acted as “stagiaire” (legal trainee) to the Advocate General of the United Kingdom at the European Court of Justice in Luxembourg prior to Brexit, as well as the judicial assistant to the Right Honourable Lord Justice Floyd at the Court of Appeal in London.

James has also gained experience at a number of international law firms in the City, assisting on various high-profile and multi-jurisdictional corporate and financial institution litigation matters.

This set comes recommended for its members' expertise in children and matrimonial finance matters. The children cases range across both public and private law work, and include those concerning non-accidental injury, sexual abuse and fabricated illness. On the financial side, the set's barristers demonstrate the ability to act in substantial financial remedies cases as well as Schedule 1 and TOLATA matters.
